We have compiled selected lists of online sources to use when are doing a research on Modernist women writers  in this section. You can use them to find biographical information as well as scholarly articles about Modernism as a movement or literary criticism of specific Modernist texts. Choose whether you want to search a large database or a more specific journal and get started with your research!

What is a database?

A scholarly database provides searchable access to a wide variety of journals, articles, and other academic content (such as conference proceedings or dissertations). We have selected some general journals that are good for researching English literature, and some journals specifically relevant to Modernist authors or texts.

What is a journal?

A journal is a recurring publication that contains scholarly articles: we have selected ones that are available online and that publish articles relevant to the topic of Modernist women. Many journals are also published in print form: if you come across a reference to an article that sounds promising but can’t seem to find it online, you can search the library for the journal title to see if MLibrary owns it, and if it does not you can request it via ILLiad (InterLibrary Loan, which allows libraries to share their resources with each other’s patrons) using its citation.
